Every other Friday we have Bible Studies and/or talk about a certain topic to educate members about our church, culture, current events, history, and much more!
Night Outs
After every discussion, we go out to socialize and spend quality time with our members! Our outings are always different, they include going to arcades, mini golfing, bonfire nights, eating out, and so much more!
Easter Sunday
Krisdos haryav ee merelots! Orhnyal e harootyoone krisdosee! Easter Sunday celebrates the joy of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. On this day, we have snow cones, popcorn, dancers, and jumpers! We also do Easter Readings the day before by reading passages from Books in the Bible!
Palm Sunday
The Sunday before Easter, we celebrate Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus Christ to Jerusalem. The altar that had been closed since Poon Paregentan is opened once again. On the day prior to Palm Sunday, our members arrange branches inside the church, prepare olive branches, and make crosses from palm leaves. On Palm Sunday, we have jumpers, gata, ice cream, and more!
Poon Paregentan
Poon Paregentan is a celebration on the Sunday right before Lent (Medz Bahk). It leads to the period of fasting, forgiveness, and reconciliation. We bring all sorts of food, gatas, dancers, vendors, jumpers and other festivities!
Park Days
During springtime, our members go to the park and play different types of sports to prepare for Sports Weekend at the end of May. We all participate and bond over lots of fun activities like soccer, tennis, dodgeball, volleyball, and basketball!
Sports Weekend
Every Memorial Day weekend, we participate in multiple tournaments that bring all the ACYO-WD chapters from the Diocese together in Fresno, CA. This is where our park day practices come in handy, to participate in sport tournaments with other ACYO chapters. The weekend consists of lots of socializing, competing, spending quality time with members, and lots of driving.
Bonfire
A few times during the year we light a bonfire for our members. We play games around the fire, have discussions, eat snacks and make smores. It's a time to reconnect with members and socialize.
Picnic Potluck
During our picnic potluck members come together to make barbeque and spend time with one another. Sometimes it takes place in Lake Balboa where we rent bikes and swans as well!
Vartevar
Vartevar celebrates the transfiguration of Jesus Christ. The ancient festival was dedicated to the worship of Astghik, the goddess of water, beauty, love and fertility. Vartevar is celebrated 98 days after easter and is when people of all ages throw water at each other. We had jumpers, toys, snow cones, drinks, and ice cream to beat the heat!
Beach Days
In the summer, we plan a beach day for our members to have some fun in the sun! Our members swim in the freezing yet refreshing water, bury each other in the sand, and play beach games together!
Drndez
Drndez is a holiday celebrating the purification of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The celebration takes place 40 days after the birth of Jesus. We host the event with coffee, hot chocolate, music, dancers, and a bonfire!
Fall Festival (Hosted By Sunday School)
During fall, Sunday School hosts an annual Festival where they fundraise and donate money to Armenia. In 2022, Sunday School gave ACYO the privilege of hosting the event. We had jumpers, vendors, and games!
